Aqualyx – Fat Dissolving

Aqualyx® is a gel-based aqueous solution that dissolves fat. It is biocompatible, and biodegradable and contains Deoxycholic acid produced by the body in the liver to aid with the digestion of fat.

A respected Italian professor who developed Aqualyx®, Dr Paqsuale Motolese, is the only product available for Aqualysis™ treatment with a registered medical CE mark approved in December 2012. It has been used in clinics across Europe since 2009. 

Whilst the body can regenerate fat cells – the process is prolonged. So once fat cells are removed from a localised area, your results are as good as permanent. However, if you do not continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle, your body will put on weight in other areas of your body where fat cells remain.

Aqualyx® is a minimally invasive treatment option for men and women who want to reduce stubborn pockets of localised subcutaneous fat without surgery and have less recovery time. The treatment is gentle, pain-free, low-risk, and does not take long. Aqualyx® works by melting or liquefying the fat cells, the products of which are naturally removed by your body’s lymphatic system. 

Aqualyx is ideal for people with a healthy diet and exercise plan but cannot reduce small but resistant areas such as double chin, saddlebags, tummy, inner thighs, upper arms, or knees. A healthy diet cannot target weight loss to specific body parts, and not everyone can spend hours in the gym working on problem areas.  

The key ingredient is Deoxycholic acid and it was developed by Professor Pasquale Motolese, Vice President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine, who presented it at the Aesthetic Medical International Congress in Milan in 2004. Aqualyx has been given CE approval for use in the UK since 2012, which means it meets the health and safety standards required by the European Union.

The time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and the indication of being treated. Treatment can take between 30 – 60 minutes per treatment. Typically require 2 – 8 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions. Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin may require 1 – 3 treatments. Treatment for fat pockets on the stomach, hips, and thighs may require 4-8 treatments.
